Earlier this week The Recording Academy released its nominees for next year’s Grammys. The nomination spread across all award categories with many usual suspects and predicted names getting nods.
Amongst the nominees was Wizkid, who has writing credits on Drake’s ‘One Dance’ and largely unknown underground artist, Kah-Lo. Kah-Lo, (real name Faridah Seriki), was nomiated via a feature on French DJ Riton’s ‘Rinse and Repeat’ for Best Dance Recording. The alumna of Hofstra University in the US announced her nomination on her Instagram page earlier this week.
‘Rinse & Repeat’ was released earlier this year and according to website AN24, the single garnered 5 million streams on Spotify and 1.5 million plays on YouTube within less than a month of its release. DJ Riton, the credited owner of the song, will be slugging out the category alongside other nominees, including The Chainsmokers, Flume, Sofie Tukker and Bob Moses.
