Ayo Jay’s summer jam ‘Your Number’ was a choice pick by critics for New York Time’s ‘Best Songs Of 2016’.

Early December, New York Times contributor and music critic, Jon Caramanica placed the crossover jam in sixth place on his round-up for best music that broke out in the calendar year. “This Nigerian-raised singer had the song of the summer that wasn’t.” he wrote, in reference to the early noughties nostalgia of Kevin Lyttle the sleeper hit brings back.

Earlier this year, Rolling Stone featured Ayo Jay in an online publication as one of the “10 Artists You Need To Know” in 2016, and in the following weeks, RCA Records unveiled him as its latest signing. This comes after the singer topped SoundCloud’s dancehall chart for five weeks with the same song and reached Billboard’s Top 40.
